Poole BID have confirmed their support of ‘Car Nights on Poole Quay” after the landlords of two popular local pubs have stepped in to secure the continuation of the Friday evening event during summer 2024, which began in early July and we look forward to the next theme on 9th August with Military Vehicles.

Due to BCP Council’s recent work focussed on setting a balanced budget for 2024/25, it required choices to prioritise their statutory obligations, and this has meant that whilst they did not cancel this event, their focus instead has been to work with the local businesses to facilitate a handover instead. This mantle was well and truly taken over by Anna Doyle from the Lord Nelson and Michelle Smith of Poole Arms to ensure that the Car Nights remain a key element in the Poole Quay events calendar.

These uniquely themed car events occur every Friday evening from 6pm – 9pm, putting a great selection of popular car marques in the spotlight creating a bustling, lively atmosphere that can be enjoyed by owners as they mingle with fellow enthusiasts and spectators who want to catch a glimpse of the line up. All who attend will be spoilt for choice with the Quay’s great selection of continental café bars, traditional pubs and fine dining restaurants.

The event offers free entry onto the quayside for the car owners who fit the theme for each particular evening which range from ‘Air Cooled VW & Porsches’ kicking off summer 2024 on 5th July to ‘Classic Minis & Minors Pre-2000’ on the penultimate Friday 23rd August.  Stay tuned for the surprise finale on Friday 30th August!    With a stunning backdrop of the Quay and Poole Harbour it is the perfect location for owners to show off their vehicles.

Thanks to the hard work of Anna and Michelle, they have secured this traditional weekly event throughout the summer.

They said: “We are thrilled as Poole Quay Events to be able to keep the traditional Car Nights on the Quay. This has been an event on the Quay for many years and hopefully many more to come! It brings car enthusiasts young and old out to see their favourite cars and with each week having different themes targets a wider audience. This year we are adding live music to the event along with Fairground rides for the children making this an event for the whole family.”

“We look forward to seeing everyone there and also thank Poole BID for their support as well as the other businesses for their continued support to help bring these events to the Quay.”

Headline sponsor and Poole BID Lead Jacqui Rock commented, “We are over the moon that Anna and Michelle have so ably taken over the running of Car Nights on the Quay along with the other long running Quay events now fondly placed under their ‘Poole Quay Events’ banner.  This clearly showcases their enthusiasm and how they and others of our business community work together to make things happen.”

“This has been no easy task. Having to actively seek sponsors, stall holders, bands, display cars and volunteer marshals reflects the amount of work involved whilst also running their busy businesses and this is a testament to their drive and enthusiasm.”

“The event is great for bringing people together, fostering community spirit, and with the backing of all the sponsors, there’s potential for even greater success and impact in attracting locals and tourists alike while boosting the local economy and creating a vibrant atmosphere right along Poole Quay and the rest of Poole Town.”

It’s heartening to hear about communities coming together to preserve something they value, and Car Nights holds a traditional significance and can be an important gathering place for enthusiasts to share their passion for cars whilst boosting local tourism. It is great to see the Poole Quay business community recognising the importance of such events and taking action to ensure their continuation.
