Morebus’ Poole depot named UK’s best

Local operator Morebus has scooped a top accolade in the highly-regarded UK Bus Awards. The company’s Poole depot has been named best in the country.

The award is designed to recognise and reward excellence by a particular bus depot whose staff work together to deliver first rate services – maintaining high operational, safety, and customer services standards.

Morebus’ Poole depot was singled out as a well-run depot at the heart of the community in which it serves. Its engineering, reliabilty and safety received particularly high praise – with a 100 percent MOT pass rate and clean, well-presented buses.

“We’re thrilled to receive this prestigious award – it’s thoroughly deserved by general manager Richard Wade and his excellent team in Poole,” said Morebus managing director, Ben Murray.

“This is wonderful recognition for the talents of all our team members here – from our skilful engineers and drivers, to the rapid reactions from supervisors who ensure everything runs smoothly, and all those behind the scenes keeping the fleet clean and managing the operation.

“We want to keep this momentum, and will work tirelessly to ensure our bus services across the region continue to run efficiently.”

Parent company, Go South Coast, was also highly commended for its ‘Women Like Us’ recruitment campaign, designed to increase the number of female bus drivers and engineers working for the company.

And the memory of the former managing director Andrew Wickham MBE, who died in May this year, was honoured – with the Manager of the Year Award named after him.

The UK Bus Awards scheme was founded in 1996. It was designed to develop further the Bus Good Practice Awards – which were set up by the Association of Metropolitan Authorities in 1991.
