Discover Poole BID

Lobbying and campaigning is a key part of Poole BID’s role, as well as working in partnership with organisations such as BCP Council, Dorset Police and local community organisations and other key stakeholders.

Poole BID is influential in encouraging official bodies such as BCP Council, High Street Heritage Action Zone and community groups to prioritise projects within Poole.

We also provide opportunity for businesses to reduce their costs by working collectively for more preferential rates such as energy provision.

There is no limit on what projects or services can be provided through us. The only requirement is that it should be in addition to services provided by BCP Council.

💖 Tag a local business and give them a shout out.

Last Saturday marked the annual Small Business Saturday UK - a national campaign encouraging everyone to support small businesses in their area.

This week, BCP Council’s Economic Development team is shining a spotlight on its ‘Support Local’ initiative, reminding residents and visitors across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole to support local business wherever they can.

Look out for the pink stickers in their shop windows.

The ‘Support Local’ campaign is funded externally by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

🛍️ @morebuses is urging shoppers to leave their cars at home and travel by bus on Black Friday.

Retailers across the region are gearing up for bumper sales on Friday 29 November, and the local bus operator is warning of increased congestion in-and-around the town centres.

‘Black Friday gives people the perfect opportunity to start their Christmas shopping, and it is always an incredibly busy day for retailers,” said Morebus head of communications, Nikki Honer.

“It’s no secret that Bournemouth and Poole are heavily congested across the town centres during busy times, and parking can be difficult to come by. We’re expecting even more traffic on Black Friday. With just one fully loaded double decker bus having the potential to remove up to 75 cars from our roads, we’re keen to welcome more people on-board as they search for bargains.

“The £2 fare cap for any single journey - part of the Government’s Help for Households initiative - is also still in place, so this the perfect time to sit back and let our drivers do all the work.

“Our services run to-and-from the town centres regularly throughout the day - so it doesn’t matter how long people choose to spend browsing around the shops. They can also take advantage of the region’s many bars and restaurants, without thinking about having to drive home afterwards.”
